Fronts de scène et lieux de culte dans le théâtre antique (TMO 52)

Le présent volume rassemble les communications de deux journées d'étude qui se sont déroulées à la Maison de l'Orient et de la Méditerranée : l'une consacrée aux fronts de scène en janvier 2006 ; l'autre aux lieux de culte dans les théâtres en janvier 2007. Organisées dans le cadre du programme de l'Institut de recherche sur l'architecture antique intitulé « édifices de spectacle et sanctuaires », elles ont été l'occasion pour une dizaine de chercheurs de s'interroger dans des études monographiques ou des travaux de synthèse sur deux des traits les plus singuliers du théâtre antique : l'ornementation de la façade devant laquelle sont données les représentations et l'intégration des spectacles aux pratiques religieuses.

The présent volume is a collection of communications drawn from two study days held at Maison de l'Orient et de la Méditerranée. The first day, in January 2006, was dedicated to the fronts of scène buildings. The second, held in January 2007, was dedicated to sanctuaries in theatres. Organised within the programme of the Institute for Research on Ancient Architecture entitled « Theatres and sanctuaries », the two study days provided an opportunity for a group of researchers, through monographs and synthetic studies, to investigate two of the most striking traits of the antique theatre : the ornamentation of the facade in front of which plays were performed, and the integration of theatrical performances into religions practices.
