Omschrijving

Sigurd, a junior mechanic at an oil rig off the coast of Norway, struggles to come to terms with a traumatic event he experienced at his previous position in the Navy. Unable to resist the call of the sea, he works his new offshore job, but finds it hard to make meaningful connections among the crew.

One day, he mistakes a seal for a drowning man, and comes into contact with a strange creature: a selkie with a birth defect. This creature, Reykr, offers Sigurd the connection he’s been unable to find, and begins communicating with him through his subconscious, helping him face painful truths about himself and his role in the events that still haunt him.

When Sigurd’s beloved grandmother in the Faroes passes away, he fears he needs to leave Reykr behind, but what he doesn’t realise is that Reykr holds the key to uncovering a family secret Sigurd didn’t even know existed...
