"This… isn't right," I whisper.
"What the hell—"
Another impact followed—closer this time. The air itself trembled, a deep, thunderous force rolling through the space. I didn't just hear it…
I felt it.
"Oh my God…"
Dinosaurs.
That was the first ridiculous thought that came to mind.
Dinosaurs exist, right? On TV all the time. Jurassic Park. Documentaries.
But this?
This wasn't fiction.
"You read human fiction books, don't you?" his voice cut through, the fear—calm, controlled… dangerous.
I looked up, startled by how steady he sounded.
"Well," he stepped closer, every movement precise, "most of what's written in them is rooted in truth. Not all… but enough."
"I don't care what some damn book says about what you are," I choked out. "Please… Let me go. Show me the door, and I promise I'll disappear."
A pause.
Then—
"What if I don't want you to?"
His gaze at me was dark and unyielding, flickering beneath it.
"What if I want you right here…"
His voice was dangerously lower.
"…with us."
