Nous voilà confrontés aux extrêmes de la conscience : d'un côté, ce sentiment de toute-puissance, puissant levier de la négation des limites ; de l'autre, cette perception accrue de notre appartenance au vivant, et donc de notre fragilité, qui encourage à repenser de manière plus raisonnée notre inscription dans les écosystèmes, mais peut aussi entraîner certains dans une angoisse, un rejet fataliste et désespéré de la civilisation.

Comment vivre entre ces deux contraintes et quels discours adopter pour envisager un futur ni technolâtre, ni apocalyptique ? Une meilleure conscience de notre appartenance au vivant, alliée à la mobilisation des savoirs, pourrait-elle donner un espoir ?

Here we are, facing extremes of awareness : on the one hand, a feeling of omnipotence, a powerful driver for the denial of limits ; on the other, an increased perception of our belonging to the living world that encourages us to rethink in a more reasoned way about our place in ecosystems, but that can also drive some people to anguish, to a fatalistic and desperate rejection of civilization.

How can we live between these two constraints and what discourse should we adopt to envisage a future that is neither techno-liberal nor apocalyptic ? Could a better a wareness of our belonging to the living world, combined with the mobilization of knowledge and know-how, give us hope ?
