The alliance between the United States and its Nato partners has been strained severely in recent years. Ethics & European Security (1986) develops a broad understanding of the problem of European security and American backing based on Christian ethics. There are disagreements and differences of emphasis among the contributors but they have in common the view that an exclusive preoccupation with the military dimension is damagingly one-sided.
