The burgeoning field of sociosyntax brings together two prominent intellectual traditions within linguistics: (variationist) sociolinguistics and formal morphosyntactic theory. However, the state of the field is not always clear to newcomers to the field or even to scholars working directly within sociosyntax. This volume contributes cutting-edge research that illustrates the current methods and theory of sociosyntax.
