Cristina Oñoro, profesora de Literatura y escritora que cautivó a los lectores con Las que faltaban, descubre esta historia de amistad transatlántica en los archivos de la Residencia de Señoritas. Durante los siguientes años será ella quien se embarque en la apasionante aventura de contarla. Con su cuaderno y una cámara al hombro, viajará por España, Estados Unidos e Inglaterra siguiendo las huellas de varias generaciones de feministas que hicieron posible el acceso de las mujeres a la universidad. Emily Dickinson, Emilia Pardo Bazán, Virginia Woolf y la pintora Mary Cassatt serán algunas de sus compañeras en este viaje, repleto de conexiones y casualidades, que la acabará llevando al encuentro de su propia memoria.

Boston, 1871. Alice Gulick, a Protestant missionary, travels to Spain to advocate for women's education. Her journey marks the beginning of an adventure that culminates in the creation of the Instituto Internacional, a school ahead of its time. In early twentieth-century Madrid, the American women at this institution forged lasting ties with the professors and students of the Residencia de Señoritas, whose numbers included María Goyri and María de Maeztu. For decades, they shared building space, exchanged letters and joined forces for female equality.

Madrid, 2021. Cristina Oñoro, a professor of literature and author who captivated readers with Those Missing, discovers this history of trans-Atlantic friendship in the archives of the Residencia de Señoritas and sets off on her own adventure to document it. With her notebook and camera, she travels from Spain to the United States and England on the trail of the several generations of feminists who led the way in gaining access to higher education for women. Emily Dickinson, Emilia Pardo Bazán, Virginia Woolf and Mary Cassatt are just some of the accomplished figures whose legacy she encounters on a journey full of connections and coincidences that brings her to terms with her own memories.
