Every morning, Nicola Gamurra, an eighty-two-year-old writer, sets up his deck chair facing the ocean and watches de elegant movements of Lu, a young woman who glides over the water on her canoe every single day. She is the same age Nicola's mother was when his father fell in love with her, and even though they bear no resemblance, the old man cannot help thinking about his mother every time he sees Lu.
