One of Montréal's cultural nerve centres, the Quartier des Spectacles entertainment district covers more than one square kilometre (between Rue Sherbrooke and Boulevard René-Lévesque, and between Rue Saint-Hubert and Rue City Councillors), and contributes to the city's strong presence on the international arts scene. It boasts some 80 cultural venues, including 30 performance halls. The territory covered by this tour, which leads west from Boulevard Saint-Laurent to Avenue McGill College, also features a number of theatres and public artworks, as well as the Luminous Pathway, which highlights the area's wealth of nighttime attractions.
