'I have spent the past twenty-five years weathering a sea of tempered storms - I made no claim that it was storm-free! There were highs and lows, failings and yet more failings. Each served to remind me painfully - though beneficially - that I was not invincible and that conversion was something that had to be relived each day. Sometimes, not wishing to question God's mercy toward me, I would repeat to myself a phrase that was consoling, but profoundly sincere: 'All my failings are of little account as long as the last one propels me into the arms of God.' Rather facile as far as self-absolution goes, but very much in the style of St. Theresa!' An invaluable work for all those Christians whose daily existence is fraught with difficulty, particularly those who have undergone conversion.
