Châteaux en Périgord - Nouvelles approches

Pour la première fois depuis 1984, les Rencontres d'archéologie et d'histoire en Périgord n'ont pu se dérouler en septembre 2020 en raison de la pandémie. Exceptionnel et dramatique, cet arrêt forcé a malgré tout permis de mesurer l'ampleur des découvertes issues de nos publications sur l'histoire des châteaux, soit une trentaine d'ouvrages. C'est pourquoi le conseil scientifique de notre association a estimé que le moment était venu d'honorer le Périgord dont les collectivités territoriales soutiennent depuis ses origines notre démarche scientifique désormais unique en Europe. Cet ouvrage en est le fruit, à partir d'une rétrospective des contributions publiées depuis les quinze dernières années. Elle offre des études spécifiques sur des châteaux périgourdins saisis dans leur singularité exemplaire : ainsi de Biron, Thénac, l'Herm, Bridoire, Campagne, Montaigne, Puyguilhem, La Force... et du castel de Garrigues à Bergerac. Que leurs auteures et auteurs soient remerciés pour avoir accepté de réactualiser certains aspects de leurs travaux liés aux avancées de la recherche, notamment en archéologie

Castles in Périgord, a new approach

For the first time since 1984, the regular meetings on archeology and history in Périgord (Rencontres d'archéologie et d'histoire en Périgord) did not take place in September 2020 because of the covid pandemic. However this exceptional and terrible stop has allowed us to measure the importance of discoveries presented in our numerous publications - nearly thirty - on the history of castles. The scientific council of our association thought therefore it was time now to honour Périgord whose local and regional authorities have, from the very beginning, supported our action now considered as unique in Europe. This publication is the fruit of all this, based on a retrospective review of articles published during the past fifteen years. It offers specific studies on Périgord châteaux presented in their singular context : such as Biron, Thénac, l'Herm, Bridoire, Campagne, Montaigne, Puyguilhem, la Force... and Garrigues castle at Bergerac. We wish to thank the various authors of articles for accepting to update some aspects of their work linked to progress in research, notably in archeology.
