Through the history of Cairn, this volume sums up more than twenty years of contemporary art in the région of Digne-les-Bains. Archive images, commentaries and interviews with the centres founder, Nadine Gomez-Passamar, explore the issues raised by the introduction of art into a rural setting.

The connection between art, nature and science is central to the identity of Cairn, which has provided support for numerous artists.
