Blues was born in the Deep South of the United States, but it soon spread far beyond. Its essence can be traced through almost all popular music, across countless genres and subgenres. This graphic novel, a collaboration between blues expert Manuel López Poy and the talented illustrator Pau Marfà, takes us back to the roots of the blues, offering a comprehensive view that blends its historical backdrop with the key figures who shaped its birth and evolution. These are singular characters--some said to have sold their souls to the devil at a crossroads--in order to play tormented songs about lives of hardship in the cotton fields where many of them were raised.
