Barbara Chase-Riboud est sculptrice, poétesse et romancière franco-américaine. Elle vit à Paris. Elle rencontre Alberto Giacometti au tout début des années 1960. Tous deux ont tracé, au l des décennies, des parcours de sculpteurs différents – d'homme et de femme artiste aussi. Leur dialogue repose sur des points de contact : le travail de la matière et du bronze, la passion pour l'Égypte ancienne, l'écriture. Cette confrontation entre Giacometti, que l'on croit « épuré » et classique, et Chase-Riboud, « matérielle » et baroque, révèle également une commune attention passionnée à la représentation du corps. Cette exposition, première en France de Barbara Chase-Riboud depuis 1974, nous livre le regard d'une artiste sur l'œuvre d'Alberto Giacometti avec laquelle elle entre en sympathie.
