Cet ouvrage est le résultat de la réunion tenue à Antibes en octobre 2007, dont le titre était « Archéologie du poisson ». Il explore l'exploitation des ressources aquatiques par la pêche à travers la planète et le temps ainsi que les thèmes qui lui sont liés. Les articles abordent : 1. les techniques et les stratégies de pêche ; 2. le traitement et le commerce du poisson ; 3. le développement et la gestion des pêches et de l'aquaculture ; 4. l'impact des activités humaines sur la faune aquatique ; 5. les poissons en tant qu'indicateurs de la paléobiodiversité, de la paléoécologie et de la paléoclimatologie ; 6. la taphonomie.

Cette réunion s'est tenue en hommage à Jean Desse et Nathalie Desse-Berset pour leur influence déterminante sur le développement de l'archéo-ichtyologie française et internationale.

This book is the resuit of the meeting held in Antibes in October 2007, whose title was " Archaeology of Fish ". It explores the worldwide exploitation of aquatic resources by fishing through time and its related thèmes. Papers are dealing with : 1. fishing techniques and strategies ; 2. fish processing and trade ; 3. development and management of fisheries and aquaculture ; 4. impact of human activities on the aquatic fauna ; 5. fish as indicators of paleobiodiversity, paleoecology and paleoclimatology ; 6. taphonomy.

This meeting has been held in homage to Jean Desse and Nathalie Desse-Berset for their determining influence on the development of the French and international archaeoichthyology.
