With the increase of the population the movement of the large number of people to the big cities also increases. It keeps pressures on the cities. It also leads to the increase of vehicles to support their transports. In a similar way, the establishment of the industries in the city areas also increase, which ultimately leads to the environmental pollution or air pollution. The increased air pollution is one of the common causes of the air borne diseases, allergies etc. Chittagong is one of the busiest cities of the country and is called the gateway of Bangladesh. A study was conducted in order to measure the air pollution of this city during the atmospheric year 2013-2014.The average results of gaseous pollutants, particulate matters and trace metals have been compared to national and international standards. The value of SPM in air of Chittagong City is higher than that of TLV value recommended by WHO, EPA and DoE.The elemental concentrations (eg. Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Pb, Mn, Ni, Zn) of ambient air that collected at different locations in Chittagong city is exceeded the TLV.
