Omschrijving

""A Theologico Political Treatise V2"" is a philosophical work by Benedict de Spinoza, originally published in 1670. The book is divided into two parts, the first of which explores the nature of God and the second of which delves into the relationship between religion and politics. Spinoza argues that God is not a supernatural being but rather the natural laws that govern the universe, and he critiques traditional religious beliefs and practices as being based on superstition and irrationality. In the second part of the book, Spinoza argues that religion and politics should be separate spheres, and he advocates for a secular government that does not interfere with religious beliefs or practices. The book was controversial in its time and was banned by the Dutch authorities, but it has since become a classic work of philosophy and a foundational text for modern secularism. All these periods added together make a total of 580 years. But to these must be added the years during which the Hebrew republic flourished after the death of Joshua, until it was conquered by Cushan Rishathaim, which I take to be very numerous, for I cannot bring myself to believe that immediately after the death of Joshua all those who had witnessed his miracles died simultaneously, nor that their successors at one stroke bid farewell to their laws, and plunged from the highest virtue into the depth of wickedness and obstinacy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
