In a harmony of the Gospel, the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are arranged in columns, and placed so that passages from different books which occur at chronologically similar times are adjacent. Drawing on the New American Standard Bible, Robert L. Thomas provides an excellent tool for gaining a well-rounded view of the life of Jesus.

A Harmony of the Gospels: New American Standard Edition draws on a tradition of Bible translation that provides a more literal translation of Greek text. Thomas includes a wealth of supplemental material, including a probable chronological sequence of Christ's life. Possible geographic locations of every event in the Harmony are provided, along with maps. There are also a number of reference tables, including a table of section cross-references and a table for finding specific passages. A series of essays close the volume, each with its own reading list for scholars who want to go more in-depth.

Robert L. Thomas (PhD, Dallas Theological Seminary) is professor of New Testament at The Master's Seminary. He is the author or coauthor of numerous books and other works, including the commentaries on 1 and 2 Thessalonians in the Holt series.
